The Whickham Practice is a GP training practice. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who intend to pursue their careers in General Practice. They all have experience of working in other branches of medical practice. They come to work in this Practice to gain their initial experience of general practice working alongside and under the supervision of more experienced doctors. We value the contribution they make to the work of the practice and we do hope that you will readily accept appointments when they are offered for these doctors.
A Practice Nurse is present in the practice weekdays from 9.00am until 5.00pm. Appointments can be made for a variety of matters particularly immunisations, dressings and the removal of stitches. The nurses are also available to carry out a variety of health checks including cervical smears, family planning check ups and advice concerned with heart disease prevention. We also have Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists who carry out new patient health checks and take blood for testing.
